Facilities and Opportunities at Afyon Kocatepe University Biomedical Engineering Department
Students of the Biomedical Engineering Department conduct all academic activities, particularly the registration processes at the beginning of each semester, under the supervision of their academic advisors. In addition to remote access via the university’s student information system and e-mail regarding educational activities and career matters, these processes are also managed through face-to-face consultations. Orientation programs provided to newly enrolled students offer comprehensive information about our university, the central library, our faculty, the department, and other essential topics.
As of August 2022, our department continues its education with 378 students. The student body is approximately 57% female and 43% male. Additionally, 16% of our students are international. Between 2016 and 2022, 21 of our students participated in study abroad programs within the scope of Erasmus+. Our department has the highest participation rate in Erasmus student mobility programs within the faculty. Currently, we have students continuing their education abroad through Erasmus, with 4 students benefiting from this mobility during the 2021-2022 academic year alone.

Laboratory Facilities and Technical Infrastructure
Our department houses specialized laboratories for Biomedical Instrumentation, Biomechanics, Biomaterials, and Biomedical Calibration, all of which are open for student use. To support engineering applications, high-performance computers are readily accessible to students in both common areas and within the laboratories.
Furthermore, wireless internet (Wi-Fi) is available at every point throughout the faculty, providing students with seamless access to global academic databases provided free of charge by the university. Both the laboratory building and the main classroom building feature dedicated study areas, allowing students to engage in individual or group work outside of scheduled lecture hours.
